The casino has become a magnificent setting in which was held this evening a concert of Sephardic music with which it has terminated the international meeting on the Spanish Jews that took place in Murcia since last Monday.
Moments before the performance of Sephardic music group Sirma, the act was begun with a brief intervention by the Chairman of the meeting coordinator, José Luis Campoy, the representative of Casa Sefarad Israel, Sonia Sanchez, Mayor, Miguel Angel House, and the fifth president of Israel, Yitzhak Navon.
Organized by the University of Murcia, the region and the Casa Sefarad Israel, the International Meeting "Sefarad in the Diaspora, 1492-2010" has been developed in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.
Its purpose has been the knowledge and dissemination of Sephardic culture.
Yitzhak Navon addition, the conference has received lectures on Sephardic theater in the Ottoman Empire and the Balkans, Sephardic ballads and poetry about the Holocaust, legal relations between Muslims and Jews in Al-Andalus, literature, folk medicine, geography and gastronomy.
Among the speakers gathered in Murcia have found associations representing various Israeli ambassadors and directors of cultural centers related to Israel.
