The UCAM pays tribute to the founder of modern nursing (22/04/2010)

The Department of Nursing at the Catholic University of Murcia has made this morning an uninterrupted reading of the book 'Notes on nursing what is and is not', the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.

The event, organized by Professor of the UCAM Diana Jiménez Rodríguez, has served to honor the nurse to be a hundred years after his death.

The initiative for this event comes from the Foundation Index, scientific organization with great national and international, which invites its partners, among which is the UCAM, to commemorate the International Year of Nursing, joining this global recognition the founder of modern nursing.

'What a day Nightingale's words resonate in the Universe' has been the theme chosen by the Foundation to develop the tribute.

Seven professors from the Department of Nursing at the Catholic University have read some pages of the work of Nightingale, of Chapter 'Observation of the patient. "

It is noteworthy that since early in the morning, many associations, universities and central parts of the world, have joined this initiative, thus making a continuous reading of the work of Nightingale.

Furthermore, during reading, has designed a presentation on the life and work of the author.

After the event, attendees, among whom were teachers and students of nursing, discussed the ability to observe, the central theme of reading.
