The Governing Board today approved the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration and the city of Murcia for the host resource viencia victims of gender and the implementation of programs that promote equal opportunities between men and women.
The partnership is between the Institute for Women and the City of Murcia, through the Department of Social Welfare and Equal Opportunities Policy, which directs Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, for the development of host resource activities for victims of gender already being carried out by the City Council, whose purpose is to welcome and provide the treatment required by women and their dependent children, provided that the woman is in serious situations of gender violence.
The purpose of the agreement also focuses on the implementation of activities to promote equal opportunities between men and women.
Municipal Team for the Care of Gender Violence, in 2009 has served 356 women, of whom 65% are Spanish, have an average age of 37 years and two children.
Host-family stayed eight women and 14 minors.
Until last March 2010, has treated 91 women, with two staying in the shelter with six children ranging from 16 years 8 months old.
From This Service informs, advises and participates in a comprehensive manner, in situations of violence, accompanying the women in the process of rupture and separation from the abuser and overcoming the effects that these situations cause.
Information and attention is directed to women of all ages and social and cultural level and includes the protection and care of women and their children who require temporary accommodation and support specifically through the shelters.
The welcome and attention to the center aims to provide a comprehensive treatment of women, promoting personal autonomy and providing the means to help them rebuild their lives under normal conditions.
The resources also provide:
- Psychological and educational assistance for children
- Provide accommodation, food and protection.
- Career counseling, providing assistance for women to training courses.
- Legal advice
- Social care, education, health and integration.
About the implementation of actions to promote equality of opportunity between men and women, the aims are:
- Encouraging coeducation and the division of responsibilities shared familaires.
- To promote the association and participation.
- Intervention to promote participation and integration of rural muejres.
- Encourage social activities and cultural character.
- Preparation, publication and editing of municipal plans of equal opportunities.
