"The Return" brings in the most fruitful era Almudí and representative of Ramón Gaya (16/04/2010)

The exhibit, which opened this evening by the Mayor and the President of CajaMurcia, is part of the program commemorating the centenary of the birth of the artist Murcia

Palace Arts Center Almudí flagship showrooms in the city, welcomes today the exhibition "The Return. Since returning from exile Gaya", which was inaugurated this afternoon by the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel House and the President of CajaMurcia, Carlos Egea.

Also attended the event the Councillor for Culture, Fátima Barnuevo, the manager of the Foundation CajaMurcia, Pascual Martinez and Ramon Gaya Museum director, Manuel Fernández-Delgado.

The exhibition is part of the intensive cultural program organized by the City and CajaMurcia Foundation to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Ramón Gaya.

The exhibition will last until July 11.

This is a collection of over fifty works painted since the mid-seventies, the painter returns from exile.

It is also the most fertile period is representative of the artist's life Murcia, whose work is illuminated with light Murcia "dusty and warm" that bathes the city.

Are pictures that show the maturity of the painter.

"Returning" is named after the book by Jose Bergamin, a friend of Gaya, published years after the first return to Spain.

The exhibition represents a journey through the painting of Gaya after their stay in Mexico, coinciding with the zenith of its creation and the culmination of his life.

In 1939 Ramón Gaya came to Mexico.

A loss of war joins his wife's death but, with the support of his friends, he began to paint again.

Thirteen years later, on June 21, 1952, he moved to Paris in 1953 but returned temporarily to the American nation.

He did so with the intention to return and settle in Europe, close to museums and painting.

After a brief stay in Rome, beginning in 1956, Gaya finally returned to Spain in 1960 after 21 years of exile.

Three exhibitions in Murcia and Burgos

With the opening of "The Return", at present there are three exhibitions on Gaya which can be seen in Murcia: "Portraits" in his museum and "Life and Creation" at the Museum of the City.

Burgos is on display in "The Silence of the art", who in May returned to the region and can be accessed at the Museum housed.

Programming centennial of the famous painter provides a new sample, in this case, "Landscapes", in his museum in Santa Catalina.

In October, "Portraits" will travel to Cartagena, while the Centro Cultural Las Claras host the exhibition "Let her look in my eyes"

Before all this, next week will be held at the cultural center of CajaMurcia the conference "Paint the edge of an abyss with your hand."
