José Antonio Cobacho Rector and his team took up their positions (16/04/2010)

Civil law professor José Antonio Gómez Cobacho has today taken up his post as chancellor of the University of Murcia after being reelected for another term in elections that were held in late March.

In his speech, the Rector, who appreciated the participation and support for a community college in the election and had words of praise for the outgoing general secretary, Jose Fulgencio Narrow, reviewed the projects and goals of the University of Murcia for the next years, which he said is at the height of the top Spanish universities.

Cobacho also referred to efforts made by members of the institution to tailor the qualifications to the requirements of the Bologna Process, but admitted that the way to implement the ERA has generated criticism, some justified, among certain sections college, especially among students .

The rector, finally, asking not to fall into conformism and complacency because the University, he said, has room for improvement.

The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, expressed the hopes and expectations of the Region of Murcia in the proposed Health Campus, for which said there would be to find imaginative ways to their operation.

In this context of economic crisis, the president of the autonomous government welcomed the regional universities are avoiding the difficulties due to the 2007 funding agreement, in contrast to what happened in other communities where they have cut funding for them.
