Murcia will have bicycle rental system next month, as planned.
The City Council has given its approval to the specifications for the purchase of a total of 180 bicycles as well as spare parts.
Touring bikes, which are red, are made of steel and will have front basket, rear rack, headlight, bell, six-speed gearbox, rear reflector and saddle and handlebars with quick release safety system to prevent removal .
The Municipality will invest 45,000 euros in the acquisition of these bikes.
The company that is awarded will have to deliver the bike within 45 days from the signing of the contract.
Thus, the bicycle rental system will have three main characteristics:
- It is an affordable system: for 40 euros plus VAT (30 € in the case of large family) can have a bike all year round.
This amount is reduced to 15 € (10 € for large families) if you rent for a month, 8 € (5 € for large families) if you opt for one week and 3 € (2 € in case of large families) in the For a day or a weekend.
- It is an accessible system: Bicycle shops attached to the plan of the municipality will manage the rental and maintenance free.
- Is an open system: the only requirement to be met by users is to be over 14 years (minors need the consent of his guardian).
- Is environmental: Unlike other cities, the plan designed in Murcia promotes sustainable transport and cycling as usual vehicle for urban transport and, preferably, to college campuses.
