The University of Murcia and the Simon Bolivar Ecuador conduct studies on migration (26/03/2010)

The University of Murcia and Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Ecuador) signed today in Convalescence a collaboration agreement for, among other activities, conduct studies on the Ecuadorian immigration in Spain.

The initiator of the agreement, professor of Modern History, Contemporary and Latin at the University of Murcia Juan Andreo, said the agreement signed today, which formalizes the relationships were between both institutions in recent years, will allow also promote the mobility of staff from both universities.

Within this collaboration, this week has been developed at the University of Murcia an international seminar on comparative history of Latin American independence, which took part, besides the Ecuadorian institution, the University Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla, Jaume I Castellón and the Federal University of Parana (Brazil).

The chancellors of the universities of Murcia and Ecuador, José Antonio Cobacho and Enrique Ayala said in the act of convalescence that the signing of the agreement is also a way to commemorate the bicentennial of the independence of Latin American countries, one of the subject matter of research to be undertaken between the two centers.

The rector of the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar said that this agreement goes beyond a mere declaration of good relations because "delves into a relationship that already existed and shows the willingness to continue working together."

Enrique Ayala Cobacho delivered to the rector of the University Ecuadorian books donated to the University Library.

José Antonio Cobacho coincided with the findings of the Ecuadorian president and stated the importance of community in this Andean country for the Region of Murcia.

The rector, who stressed the role of the Department of Modern History, Ayala corresponded to the delivery of twins at the University of Murcia.

The event, along with high academic representatives from the University of Murcia, attended by the Consul of Ecuador in the region, Patricio Garcés, who wanted the best of success for the alliance formalized today.
