The Socialist Party calls for stop cutting down trees in the valley and fight the scourge of processionary Torreagüera (17/03/2010)

Councilman José Antonio García Baños PSOE claims that are being cut copies of the mountain pine Carrascoy, and warns of a new pest processionary is eating the leaves of the pines of the Sierra de Miravete hives and causing people and animals

The Socialist Party councilor Jose Antonio Garcia Bathrooms returns to report that "not a single day passes without new indiscriminately cut down trees in the Murcia municipiode."

A new plague

Moreover, the PSOE mayor warns of a new pest in the highlands of Miravete in Torreagüera, the renowned procesionaria attacking pines eating their leaves, so that weakens causing death of them, especially of juveniles as well be causing hives to people and animals that live in the area and who are in contact with the bags in which she lives or the dust that off.

Processionary "says García Baños-is a scourge that can be fought, as well as others such as red beetle that is decimating palm plantations in our town, but we must do well with manual methods or based on organic insecticides.

For now, the council regrets the PSOE, and we are seeing processionary parade in our gardens and woodlands, and no treatment to stop them before it's too late.
