The poet's memorial Frutos Baeza and looks next to the Puente de Hierro (09/03/2010)

The City of Murcia, Murcia Programme which was decided a few months ago to honor the memory of the poet José Frutos Baeza.

The work, dedication and love for the author showed Murcia yet his memory remains present among many Murcia.

Now also have a face again.

And you can admire very close to where it was always a bust of the poet located next to the Puente de Hierro.

The original piece, work plans, was stolen a few years ago the square of the Red Cross by unknown.

The police investigation failed to trace the whereabouts of the work.

We therefore proceeded to melt a few months ago an identical copy of the above.

Frutos Baeza was born on January 11, 1861 and, aged 18, began working in El Diario de Murcia, under the command of another unforgettable Murcia, José Martínez Tornel, who was also honored with the placement of a bust in the city .

Frutos Baeza's work to a large extent, was directed to the disclosure of the traditions and the dialect of Murcia Murcia, as well as the recovery of the history of the city.

Frutos Baeza's bust was inaugurated on September 3, 1921, during the Fair.

This was an initiative of the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Murcia, backed by the city council.

The author, Jose Plans, Favorite Son of Murcia, sent the piece from Madrid.

The work was paid for with the surplus of a popular subscription was made to commemorate the first anniversary of the poet's death.

Its first location was the old park Ruiz Hidalgo, in part understood today in the so-called Chinese garden.

From there he moved to the current Red Cross Square, next to the convalescence.

Expansion Plan
