Miguel Angel House has added that the City Council of Murcia have been working specifically in these areas.

Thus, from the Information Service and Promotion of Women's Associations, has been working on the formation of the group of women through the 74 Centers for Women and 20 women's associations, for their personal, professional integration, social participation and the prevention of gender violence. "

From This Service informs, advises and participates in a comprehensive manner, in situations of violence, accompanying the women in the process of rupture and separation from the abuser and overcoming the effects that these situations cause.

Information and assistance

Information and attention is directed to women of all ages and social and cultural level and includes the protection and care of women and their children who require temporary accommodation and support specifically through the shelters.

From the Equality Authority has worked in coordination with all municipal services for the design and drafting of the Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men from 2010 to 2012.

This service is proposed as a watchdog and adviser to ensure the achievement of the principle of equal opportunities.

Moreover, since the city of Murcia, from the Department of Development Cooperation, funded and coordinated various projects in developing countries both in Latin America to Africa, whose main beneficiaries are women and girls and where the gender perspective is the constant axis of the proceedings.

The common goal of all projects supported by the city of Murcia for development cooperation is to empower women and enable them the tools for social advancement, because if gender inequality in our societies is a return to developing countries where women lack rights and are subject to the domain of men, the situation is even more unfair.

"Women hold up half the sky," says an old Chinese proverb.

In other parts of the underprivileged, women hold more than half the sky.

Millions of women and girls are forced, alone, to bring up their families, resisting and coping daily with the consequences of sexism, which often takes the form of physical, sexual and economic discrimination against them.

Therefore, the City of Murcia is collaborating with institutions and NGOs to promote women in developing countries, by among others the following projects:

- Workshop in the High School of Bolivia that aims to provide specialist training for women "Palliri" enabling them to build their own homes and their community, teaching bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, in addition to literacy.

"The proposed acquisition of water resources, developed with the Saharawi people in the Tindouf camps.

"The empowerment project of the Center for social advancement and empowerment of young women in Cameroon.

-The Project to improve maternal and reproductive health in Equatorial Guinea.

Hydro-health project in Tanzania to channel and drinkable water.

"The shelter project for the social inclusion of orphans in Bolivia.

The International Day of Women, is proposed as a day of vindication of the rights of women, rights that should be the same for all persons without discrimination on grounds of birth, race, sex, religion, opinion, or any personal or social, as stated in our Constitution in Article 14.
