The new Equal Opportunities between men and women 2010-2012 was adopted unanimously last full shows to Murcia to celebrate Women's Day on 8 March.

This plan involves the coordinated public demonstration of the commitment of the Municipality of Murcia with equality, overcoming stereotypes and gender roles and the eradication of violence against women.

The Plan includes more than 140 measures to correct imbalances from municipal services and building a more participatory and equitable Murcia.

Women's Section of the Department of Social Welfare, Gender Equality Policies and Citizenship of the City of Murcia, María del Carmen directed by Pelegrin, performs actions to raise awareness and cooperation of the population of the municipality in relation to equal opportunities to make society more fair and balanced.

Among these activities are the activities to commemorate the International Day of Women, the Department intends to undertake and which has the support and participation of the Centers for Women and other women's associations in our municipality.

This year, the proposed activities are referred to the presentation and disclosure of municipal Plan of equal opportunities between women and men 2010-2012.

This plan involves the consolidation of the Information and Advice to Women on Equal Rights and Promotion Association, and the Municipal Program of Care for Gender Violence and the mainstreaming of gender into the mainstream City to achieve the principle of equality and nondiscrimination.

Objectives of the day

1.Sensibilizar the population of the municipality in relation to equality of opportunity between women and men.

Disclose the Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men 2010-2012.

3.

Inform people of the actions taken by the city of Murcia and regional and state agencies to achieve effective equality between women and men.

4.

Collaborate with other institutions and organizations in activities that reveal the need to put gender equality and prevent violence against women.

Hut, and Theater Plan

As before, the council opened an information booth in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga on 8 March at 10am.

On the other hand, in the field of compulsory education, was sent to schools in the municipality, a total 188 sites, a set of teaching materials for coeducation, which covers the cycles of nursery, primary, secondary and special education.
