Murcia University today announced the convening of Painting and Photography Awards organized by the Fine Arts Area and who are endowed with a prize of 8,000 and 1,800 euros respectively.
The deadline for submission of works to XI Painting Prize, which sponsors the Mansion La Seda, will be 31 May to 11 June, while that of the X Prize for Photography, under the sponsorship of the Fundación Vicente Fuentes, comprising 12 to 23 April.
In the previous edition, the Painting Prize was a record participation with more than 202 authors, from virtually all points of the national territory and even some European and Latin American countries.
The Vice Chancellor of University Extension, Francisco Guillermo Diaz and Area Coordinator, Francisco Caballero, highlighted in the presentation of the call, which was held in convalescence, the prestige of a few accolades over the years has had on the jury with artists such as Antonio Lopez, Rafael Canogar or John Genovese.
For this edition, Francisco Fuentes, director of Mansion La Seda, also has taken over sponsorship of the Photography Prize, which hitherto had belonged to the art gallery "Art Nine.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho thanked the landlord for their support in these difficult economic times and called for greater involvement of private entrepreneurs in patronage jobs.
The ceremony also attended by the Councillor for Culture and European Programs of the City of Murcia, Fátima Barnuevo, who said, as more claims of the prizes, the prestige of the university and the possibility to exhibit in the Palace Almudí, whose director, Martin Paez was also present at the Rector.
