The Plenum of the Municipal Corporation has approved this morning a motion presented by the popular local group, offering to host Murcia host a high-level meeting or a Council of Minister in connection with the presidency of Spain's presidency European Union.
The Murcia region has been off the agenda of top-level activities organized by the Government of the Nation, an agenda that includes international summits, ministerial meetings and sector forums of undoubted interest, projection and transcendence.
The municipal People's Party group considers that the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has shown with its decisions, unequal treatment and exclusive to the Region of Murcia, which has been left out of the map of these high profile events.
In the motion it is stated that Murcia has extensive experience and ability to organize such international events, as demonstrated in 2002 when the People's National Party Government in the Region held the meeting of ministers agriculture.
A meeting which addressed important issues for Murcia as those relating to water.
The Council offers Murcia to be home to an important meeting of the European Union leading to an opportunity to put the region on the national and international levels, in addition to providing the opportunity to show that wealth is food culture Murcia among the best.
