A weather station studying the weather conditions Majal Blanco (19/02/2010)

The Councillor for Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-Cacho, will attend tomorrow Saturday at 12 noon, at the opening of the Meteorological Station of Majal Blanco which evidence has been working since last November.

The event was attended also the territorial delegate to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), Fernando Belda, members of the Association of Southeast Weather (Amets) plus technicians of the Department of Environment.

The Weather Station El Majal Blanco is located in the Sierra de Carrascoy, particularly in the farm town of Majal Blanco, owned by the City of Murcia, in the Regional Park and Carrascoy Valley.

This site currently has a total of 836 hectares and since 1988, said Game Refuge, a figure of wildlife protection referred to in the Hunting Act.

This condition is given to areas that have great importance for the conservation of certain species of fauna.

CLIMASCOY project aims to study the climatic conditions Majal Blanco and in general all Valley Regional Park and Carrascoy, from the perspective that the data can help a better understanding of this natural area.

This is the so far can be considered as the most ambitious project of Amets.

In collaboration with the Meteorological Agency, the City of Murcia, the Community and ASEAN to establish a network of meteorological stations in the Regional Park of El Valle-Carrascoy, which will be managed directly by members of Amets.

Meteorological Station Majal Blanco is situated at 455 meters above sea level, near the Hall of Nature of Majal Blanco.

It is situated on a plot of 27 square meters donated by the City of Murcia AMETS Association in May 2009.

Inside are a gage and a booth with a thermohygrograph that give this plant the rating of the weather station Temperature, rainfall station network for monitoring the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

In parallel, the Meteorological Station of Majal Blanco also has automatic instrument provides daily data on wind, precipitation, temperature and moisture that is available through our website, http://www.ametse.es/web2/climascoy. html .

Although every day AMETS members collect data on temperature, precipitation and other meteorological variables, dump them in the municipal web environment www.murcia.es / environment will be held monthly, and will be available in early each month.

AMETS is a young association born from the initiative of several fans to weather of the southeastern state, was created in late March 2008 with the primary purpose of providing a formal structure and organization to all lovers of this science within this geographical area, defined as the provinces of Granada, Almería, Jaén, Albacete, Murcia and Alicante, what areas bioclimatological share similar characteristics, although it also through activities and projects carried out a framework for cooperation and centered learning to give more and better dissemination of this science, not only among fans but also for the rest of society. http://www.ametse.es
