The City Council strengthened police presence in the streets with the addition of 122 new officers to the staff (16/02/2010)

The Ad Hoc Public Safety goes from 28 to 45 players and doubles teams

The investment made by the City Council since 2005 to improve the fleet has risen to 2.6 million euros

The Mayor recalled that "we are fulfilling our commitment to increase the safety of Murcia"

One of the most important commitments made by the government team's Party in the City has been increasing and strengthening the security of Murcia.

For it was necessary to examine two basic issues: increasing the staffing of the local police to allow more effective to spend the streets and give agents more and better materials.

"Having fulfilled this commitment has allowed us to better serve citizens," said the Mayor at the launch of new vehicles added to the fleet of the local police.

Miguel Angel House has been accompanied by Councilwoman Safety and Circulation, Nuria Fuentes, Security Technical Secretary, Francisco Marín, and Chief Inspector of Local Police, Angel Marin.

The staff of officials currently has 640 troops.

Only in this term, two developments have been built with 122 policemen and 77 -35 in 2007 late last year, which have helped strengthen the Panel of Public Safety-GESC-that from now on, going to have 28 agents to 45.

This, coupled with a reorganization of its structure, has made the team go from 4 to 9.

The identification of people in the street-almost 5,000 in 2009 - the 1589 inspection of vehicle-mobile and public safety surveillance devices last year 1314, constitute the most significant actions undertaken by the GESC.

Alongside them, the citizen security group also acts on complaints for violations of public security law last year, -336 at -312 static checkpoints throughout 2009 - and the seizure of narcotics activities -108 - .

A fleet renewal

In terms of improvement in the acquisition of material resources, the Mayor has presented this morning the 10 newly acquired vehicles to enter the fleet, the cost has risen to 298,000 euros.

In particular, it is 5 vans and 5 for the tourism GESC Citroën for police cars, all equipped with police equipment.

With this reinforcement, the fleet of Local Police is currently made up of 305 vehicles, of which 85 are passenger cars, 172 motorcycles, 15 jeeps, 31 trucks and 2 motorcycles.

From 2005 until now, the investment made by the City to modernize and increase the fleet has risen to 2.6 million euros.
