The Liberty Avenue will become the most innovative pedestrian walkway across Murcia (15/02/2010)

The works completed in mid April

The approximately 8,000 square meters are there in the area of Liberty Avenue will be converted into a promenade design, and original vegetation.

Thus, Murcia earns about 5,000 square meters for the pedestrian, as it has gone from 3,280 to 8,100 before now.

Remember that this is a result of a consensus project since held several meetings with the presidents of the community of owners and traders in the area, as well as publicly exposed for a month.

Murcia have been those who have chosen the Paseo Mediterráneo design providing various suggestions, as enhancing lighting, trees, children's playgrounds and benches, all made in the final.

According to the work of Clavel Architects, winners of the tender for the construction of parking on the avenue, the emphasis has been the use of locally manufactured materials and vegetation of Mediterranean origin, noted for maintenance and moderate water consumption.

The floor is divided into strips of different materials:

- On the sidewalks will be placed side national travertine 130x130 mm format.

- In the central zone is chosen stone pavement of heads with different widths (100, 200 and 300 mm)

- The surface of the ribbons connecting the boxes with the banks will be white marble Macael 130 mm

Regarding vegetation, plant species chosen are native, pest-resistant, easy maintenance and low water consumption.

Of the 17 specimens that had to be replaced, has spent a total of 49.

There will be 29 'Celtis australis', to which one must add the 20 groups of palm trees, with multiple arms, which are accompanied by roses and rosemary in the various garden areas.

In total, these areas will have 255 square meters.

Moreover, in the area of sidewalks will be placed the 'Celtis australis', aligned with a distance of four meters between each other.

All of them will have a minimum height of three meters and will be housed in circular alcorques 1.5 meters in diameter finished in a cluster of rubber filter.

Groups of date palm ('phoenix dactylifera') to be planted in large planters, have a minimum height of two meters.

The rest of the surface of these boxes is covered with a tall shrub roses a species that has a red bloom continuously throughout the year.

On the edges of the planters hang cascading rosemary plants ('rosmanirus officinalis').

All boxes will be treated with resins with aluminum finish and will have an edge of 380 mm in height and 500 mm fund to enable its use as a bank.

On top of that edge is fitted with wooden seats made of Iroko wood slats, high durability.

In the final draft has included a new playground, so the ride will now have two spaces dedicated to children.

Both areas have a rubber finish particleboard.

Can differentiate between an area reserved for children from 1 to 6 years of age, the surface will be 35 square meters, and another area for children 6 to 12 years old, with an area of 80 square meters.

Moreover, all sills parking ramps, emergency stairs, escalators and the base of the elevator cores are coated with natural stone, the same as the pavement where these elements are located.

The expulsion vents are covered with sheet metal.

As for the lighting, the project includes the following elements:

- The side walks are illuminated with a projector installed in the adjacent facades.

- In the central walkway will be installed around thirty model lampposts 'Francesca', minimalist, sleek, and emits white light that shines more, produce less light pollution and consume less electricity.

In the area completely pedestrian streetlights have a height of 4.5 meters while the area of traffic for emergency vehicles will be six meters.

- This will be reinforced with the nuclei of the elevators will be coated or frosted-glass, with a vinyl sheet and lighting mirror behind the foot that will give you a bright and light.

According to estimates, Murcia will enjoy this new pedestrian area in mid April.
