González Tovar insists his defense of the current location of the image of Christ Monteagudo

The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, has re-emphasized this morning in his support for grassroots initiatives to protect the image of Christ Monteagudo, and has expressed its full readiness to work for the protection and recovery of the Monumental de Monteagudo-Head Torres.

Tovar Gonzalez recalled that from the outset considered an absurdity private initiative of an association by removing the image of Christ Monteagudo from its current location.

"Christ is fully integrated into the landscape of the vegetable gardens and orchards and is part of our cultural and historical traditions" said.

Moreover, the delegate explained that the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which owns the land, offered the assignment of the Monumental Complex of Torres Monteagudo and Head of the Municipality of Murcia in 2008, in response to a request from the municipality.

However, later the mayor decided to reject this assignment to not wanting to face the costs of maintenance and conservation of the whole.
