The Department of Quality and Modernization of the Administration, led by Rafael Gómez, corporate plans to install a broadband network with WiMAX technology to connect municipal buildings and spaces extend municipal wifi in order to facilitate greater flexibility in accessing the municipal information to all Murcia.
This project, submitted to the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability for funding of 1,325,600 euros, is to give the city a wireless broadband network that allows wireless connections between municipal buildings and provide the Support also needed to enable the connection of new wireless points will be located in parks, gardens and main streets of the city.
Also will provide all districts of the municipality of a wireless access point located in the plaza or main garden to allow liaison with municipal networks, although in this case will be made by ADSL-type channels.

With this extension wireless network is possible to install new services using wireless telecommunications networks and provide the city with a wireless broadband network centrally with existing corporate network.
Currently, the City of Murcia has 6 wireless access points installed in the city or other two districts, which are used for access to the municipal officials.

The deadline for implementation of this project is estimated at five months of contract award, expected to take place in March 2010.
The installation and commissioning of supply 6 provides employment for workers.
