The University of Murcia held a meeting on public policies to the economic crisis (04/02/2010)

The response and solutions that the public sector can provide the economic crisis is the reason for the XVII Meeting of Public Economics, organized by the University of Murcia, is being held today and tomorrow on the campus of Merced.

In the opening ceremony, chaired by the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, in the House of Arts, agreed on the desirability of a conference of this kind, given the economic and financial difficulties being experienced by the country.

With over 100 planned communities, experts at the University of Murcia discuss the reforms that are necessary to achieve economic recovery and at the same time, ensure minimum levels of welfare of citizens.

The classic dichotomy between liberalism and interventionism, not to mention other issues like the tax treatment of housing in Spain and the economic policies of the Autonomous Communities, will be among the topics discussed.

The meeting is organized by the Department of Finance and Public Sector Economics, directed by Professor Natalia Egea.

They also assist the Institute of Fiscal Studies and the Association of Public Economics.

The opening ceremony was chaired, together with the rector and professor Egea cited by the president of the scientific committee of the meeting, Professor, University of Barcelona Nuria Bosch, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Murcia, Pilar Montaner, and the rector of the UNED, Juan Gimeno.
