The new programming Majal Blanco supports the International Year of Biodiversity of the UN with seminars, workshops and special routes (04/02/2010)

Start a new edition of Seminars and Workshops Majal Blanco.

Murcia City Council, through the Department of Education, which directs Pilar Megía, launches a year program of seminars and workshops in Majal Blanco nature, intended to promote among the citizens a more active involvement in conservation and municipal environmental protection.

The new season will start next Saturday, February 20, with a theoretical-practical workshop on the conservation of biodiversity, the different international strategies to achieve this goal, and the state of affairs in the Region of Murcia.

Later there will be two seminars on botany and geodiversity, focusing specifically on the uniqueness and heritage values that exist in the regional territory, and is complemented by environmental pathways guided a full day to places of botanical and geological interest.

Some interesting facts

Note that in the municipality of Murcia appears a third of the habitat types of Community interest identified in the Region and 14% of the types present in Spain.

These plant communities are spread over a total area of about 14,000 hectares (16% of the municipality), with a very variable percentage distribution.

According to the regional security level in the municipality of Murcia are 49 species of protected wild plants, five of which are cataloged in danger of extinction.

The municipality of Murcia is home to several areas of high botanical value (flora and vegetation) in which there is a large concentration of rare plants, endemic or threatened species within the regional context that has led to its designation as a botanical micro-reserves.

In total, the municipality is home to five of these areas, where species that are threatened or endangered.

Another new feature this year is conducting a seminar on techniques and resources for survival in nature, which will also address the necessary recommendations to prevent personal risks and prevent damage to the environment during the development of activities in the middle natural.

Likewise, the Department of Education continues to offer betting on groups of families and friends attractive opportunities appropriate to their characteristics to meet and enjoy the Forest Park Municipal Majal Blanco through activities such as guided walks, environmental workshops and manualization, and games in nature, in which adults and children can share their experiences of learning and fun in the wild.

On this occasion, have scheduled two weekends, with the option to enter one or more days.

All these activities take place in the Hall of Majal Blanco Nature of hours Saturday from 10 to 17 h.

and Sundays from 10 to 14 h.

The price of each activity is 10 €, except for over 65 years and under 16 years of age, for that will be free.

Workshop on Biodiversity Conservation.

In international biodiversity workshop proposes a theoretical-practical approach to the concept of biodiversity, its significance, causes and consequences of the alteration, and the strategies and actions taken for their conservation.

You can deepen the knowledge of the contribution of the Municipality and the Region of Murcia to global biodiversity.

Techniques and resources for survival in Nature.

A theoretical and practical workshop in which to gain basic knowledge of the surrounding environment, the skills that we can integrate sound with the natural habitat, and those that will help us make the right decisions in situations of personal risk and / or environment that welcomes us.

Fundamental knowledge to bear in mind to address a dangerous situation.

Human behavior in difficult situations.

Training to acquire skills to survive.

Practices to be made will include:

Recognition of edible plants, medicinal and useful.

13 and 14 March.

Practice Botany: Flora and vegetation of the Region of Murcia.

The main objective of this seminar is to introduce participants to understand the diversity of flora and vegetation of the southeast peninsula by carrying out practical paths for Majal Blanco (Regional Park of El Valle and Carrascoy), and a path botany focused on plant diversity of wetlands in the region.

27 and 28 March.

24 and 25 April.

Rides, games and workshops to discover the Majal Blanco family.

Two weekends to meet the Forest Park Municipal Majal Blanco doing activities the whole family.

Geodiversity and Geological Sites of Interest from the Region of Murcia.

This activity includes an environmental route to see some of these places.
