The University of Murcia heads a network for the study of family forms (03/02/2010)

The University of Murcia has launched the Network for Family Murcia (REFMUR) to promote discussion and reflection on the family, past and present, from all approaches.

In the network have been integrated in this first stage, six other universities in Argentina and Colombia, Brazil, Cuba and the United Kingdom.

In the presentation of the initiative, held in convalescence, were disclosed its policy, which include undertaking a comparative study and an update of the historiographical trends that dominate the family studies.

Is also to propose the theoretical and methodological bases of a history project of the familial forms of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with emphasis on the documentary of Murcia.

The organization of a series of national seminars and international mobility of graduate students are other planned actions.

Antonio González, managing director of the Seneca Foundation, an agency that participates in the financing of the project, said that driving this network, the University of Murcia is going to be strengthened.

The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, said performances like this prove the involvement of the University with the problems of society.

REFMUR is promoted by Professor of Modern History at the University of Murcia Francisco Chacón and Ravignani Institute Professor at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) Ricardo Cicerchia.
