The Civic Platform for the Defence of the Archaeological Heritage of San Esteban has requested in writing through the Register of the Autonomous Region for an urgent meeting with the Regional President, Ramón Luis Valcárcel.

The purpose of the meeting, according to the Civic Platform, is to convey to the President the concerns of citizens about the state of abandonment of the site, which is mostly outdoors and uncovered, despite the order of the judge who instructs the case urging the Department of Fine Arts to carry out such protective actions.

The Civic Platform would also like to convey to the President Autonomic its proposal to install a deck in the provisional field for archaeologists to continue their work, even though it continues raining, and the completion of the excavation around the perimeter of the old garden, which with current conditions have not been able to continue in recent days due to rains in the regional capital.

Valcárcel also want to inform of the damages that are beginning to cause such rains in some elements of the site.

On the other hand, the Civic Platform in Defence of the Archaeological Heritage of San Esteban has expanded its complaint to the Civil Guard SEPRONA precisely because of the unreasonable state of neglect in which it continues to find the site, which has the effect of daily rain continues to affect the same, appreciating and damage in some parts.

The Civic Platform has also submitted additional signatures of citizens in support of the declaration of a Cultural (BIC) for the Oilfield.

With this new release of 759 signatures, and are almost 4,000 signatures submitted to the Ministry.

Civic Platform wants to express his bewilderment at the fact that, despite already made on 3 December a formal request in writing and well-argued today have still not produced the opening of this file BIC statement for the locality, when recently in other fields Murcia much less important that file is started automatically by the Department of Fine Arts.

And even though the regional president himself has said on this occasion that the site is to "preserve and museumization."

The Platform points out that urgent steps in order to trust the will expressed by the regional president are:

The immediate effective protection against the weather.

The immediate opening of the BIC file.

Resumption of excavation work for the preservation and consolidation of the deposit, as soon as conditions permit.

Following steps they should be, according to the Platform, an open and participatory, in which citizens can take part to the enhancement of the site, and the creation of the Heritage Advisory Council, as a guarantee of participation citizens and decision-making with independent opinions and according to international recommendations.
