More than 13 million euros to ensure the welfare of elderly, women, children and disabled (17/12/2009)

To maintain and improve the services to citizens directly, despite the current crisis and the decrease in revenues from the municipal coffers for two reasons: the reduction of state funds by 20% and decreased equity at around 25%, we will allow that for every 100 Euro for Murcia, 68 euros has a social purpose.

This has been the result of a mix of austerity and rigor in spending, mainly those without unnecessary costs (such as the proper functioning of the council) and enhancing the services directly aimed at women and men of the town, that ensures in some cases, the continuity of all services provided and in others, the increase in the level of coverage of those budgets.

The total budget for the Department of Social Welfare and Equal Opportunities Policy, which directs Maria del Carmen Pelegrin is de13.090.614, of which almost 11 million euros will be allocated to current expenditure, namely the maintenance of projects and human resources aimed at older women, disability, family, Day Care centers, centers for work-life balance, well-maintained in the field of inclusion, the two major programs directed from the council excluded families training and attention to families in special situations .-

These budgets allow for an increase around 200 people in the home help service, 500,000 euros for 2009 to enable users to incorporate those involved in more than 10,000 hours of service and reached the 360,000 hours per year.

Currently serving 1,950 users in the service.

Moreover, this also enables users to keep the 3,160 alarms, which surpasses our election commitment to reach 3,000 users by the end of the legislature.

It also allows users to continue to respond to 100 centers in the three day stays.

Will help maintain the 6,000 meals on wheels and increase to 120 the number of users served with the respite care program.

Is a priority for the government team to continue supporting and facilitating the voluntary movement in the areas of women, the elderly and disabled, thus impacting the training offered by 25,000 members of the 75 women's centers, and more than 35,000 members and members of the 76 senior centers, highlighting remains more than 5,000 hours devoted to gerontogimnasia in the field of healthy living program.

It should be noted that this year has been carried out since the Department 173 courses for seniors and 139 to women's centers.

The associative movement in the field of disability, has made important progress in the real integration of people with different disabilities.

In this sense, we will continue to remove architectural barriers, promote the recruitment of persons with disabilities and continue to support the 61 associations and federations working in the real integration of these people.

All these aspects are a priority for many councils involved and, of course, the Social Welfare is present there.

The next year we will continue in the line started in recent years bonotaxi funding, which this year has served to 151 users, enabling people with very limited mobility are not prevented from attending rehabilitation, training activities or activities leisure.

In 2010 we will continue working on enabling parents to reconcile work, family and individual.

Therefore, we will maintain the program of reconciliation that takes place in the center of Juan Carlos I, which has improved significantly and is the focus on non-lecture period ', Christmas, Easter and non-school days of educational administration - which will allow to cover 100 days next year, with the addition of a special education teacher to properly care for children with disabilities.

Recently, we inaugurated the mediation center Bacons Bridge and they are currently under construction by 2010 of Zarandona, head of Torres and El Palmar.

In 2010 the budget possible to maintain a specialized service to women victims of violence through the conservation of the two shelters, daily specialized care through the support of a dedicated team of local police and the project launched of the Department of Education aimed at children for increasing awareness about this social evil.

Investments of the Department of Social Welfare and Policy is more than 2.1 million euros, is kept in the same way this year, and will carry out small works of improvement and maintenance and renewal of equipment and furniture both senior centers and women.
