Living Colour will be touring in Europe presenting his new album, The chair in the door way, the band's first record in New York in nearly 6 years.

Living Colour was an education pioneer in the fusion of metal, funk, soul, jazz, hip hop and punk rock, an amalgam that was labeled as 'crossover' in the late eighties, when he was in the public eye thanks the work of bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Urban Dance Squad, or Faith No More.

Led by virtuoso guitarist Vernon Reid, Living Colour was formed in 1985 and released his first album, Vivid, 88.

Dissolved ten years later to return in 2001.

Tomorrow, Friday December 18 are in the Auditorium of Murcia, in other music programming.

The Grammy Award-winning Living Colour have released their new album after a break of more than five years under the title The Chair In The Doorway, with all original members: Vernon Reid, Will Calhoun, Doug Wimbish and Corey Glover.

Legendary when they landed in the late 80's with their multi-millionaire Vivid album and singles as unforgettable as Cult Of Personality, guitarist Vernon Reid has declared that "we feel that this is the best album we could do and it could not be more excited to publish with the legendary label Megaforce Records, from which came some of our favorite bands like Metallica, Bad Brains, ANTHRAX, BLACK CROWES ... so for us it is an honor to be part of a seal with such legacy. "

A mid 80's black music was reduced to hip hop, pop standards and the so-called R & B, and the underground jazz and blues.

In a way, black musicians had disappeared from the world of rock.

The Hendrix, Sly Stone and Eddie Hazel had no successors worthy of the name.

The closest thing to a rock band Fishbone were, although his proposal was too crazy funk for whites and too rock for blacks.

The gap color musicians were waiting for owner to fill was late.

Sponsored whole Mick Jagger, in 1988 it was time for Living Colour.

The leader of the band, Vernon Reid, was a virtuoso guitarist who had been active in jazz bands and collaborated with diverse musicians.

His prodigious technique not only became the best guitarist of his generation (do not think any white has managed to be so close to Van Halen and Reid), but, sad to say, the only guitar rock with black skin in those years .

The training is completed Corey Glover (vocals), Will Calhoun (drums) and Muzz Skillings (bass).

After the release of their first album, Vivid, was an instant success, mainly thanks to their single, Cult of Personality, which was accompanied by a video quite effective.

The group opened for the Rolling Stones and the rest was history.

Great tour, awards and their videos on MTV all the time.

The times were changing.

Living Colour opened the door to success in other fusion groups of the era, and along with Faith No More set the stage for Rage Against The Machine and other clones of this band that appeared during the first half of the 90.

Living Colour lyrics not only brought the fusion of rock, funk, rap and anything else on the charts, but also returned the lyrics intelligent and committed to the rock, before RATM and Pearl Jam made their appearance this world .

No more songs about girls and cars.

Like hip hop groups of the time, Glover and his colleagues talked about economic inequality, political hypocrisy and racism, but all this more smoothly than his brothers rappers.

A second album as brilliant as the first gave way at the beginning of the end.

His third album, Stain, more experimental and dark, got a very poor sales.

The bassist left the band, but even so the group decided to go ahead.

However, during the recording of what would be his fourth work, differences over the way forward were apparently too broad, and the group disbanded.

The year was 1995.

Six years later, Living Colour came together to back for what was theirs, and soon after, in 2003, published a new album, Collide0scope, his most experimental work to date.

They have recently re-recorded Cult of Personality to the popular video game Guitar Hero, which has contributed to a new generation has discovered them.

Living Colour has always been a very political band, both in his lyrics and in his actions and is currently involved in the MoveOn.org campaign to encourage young Americans to register to vote in presidential elections.
