Opening morning of the new Sports Medicine Center at the University of Murcia (15/12/2009)

Tomorrow Wednesday, October 16, opens the new headquarters of the Sports Medicine Center at the University of Murcia, assigned to the Sporting Activities Service of the Vice President for University Extension.

The seat has been jointly funded by the University of Murcia and Autonomous Community of Murcia, through a collaboration agreement for the promotion and research in sport, undertaken with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The new center is located in the same place as above, although the old facility has been completely renovated and expanded with the construction of new spaces to improve medical and sports services.

The new center has specialized emergency rooms, physiology, physiotherapy, ultrasound, motor function and X-ray and a laboratory of force, in addition to spaces dedicated to waiting rooms, reception and changing rooms, while also prepared to receive and care for disabled athletes.

All rooms have been equipped with modern medical and sports, which make it landmark in the Region of Murcia.

The center also has an agreement for performing medical examinations sporting elite athletes of the Autonomous Region, assessing his physical condition and its progression, thus helping in the planning of their training.

Remodeling the sports arena Espinardo Campus

The new headquarters of the Sports Medicine Center is part of the redevelopment of the Campus Sports Campus Espinardo, which is in process for three years and already implemented two phases.

The first involved the complete renovation of the outdoor sports facilities and the construction of a new changing rooms with modern lighting systems, energy saving and solar thermal heating.

The second has been redeveloped access to facilities, has been adapted a new gym, and has built a new lot of the enclosure that includes extensive gardens and Sports Medicine Center said.

In later phases will undertake the reform of existing covered spaces, and build new ones, which aim to meet the demand of more than 1,200 daily users who play sports at the University of Murcia.
