The journalist and political scientist Edurne Uriarte, has given this morning at the UCAM the conference "Political negotiation with terrorists: reflections on ethics."

This conference is part of the activities scheduled by the Chair of Ethics, Politics and Humanities, UCAM and FAES.

The event was attended by the president of the University, José Luis Mendoza, along with many academic authorities.

During the conference, have accompanied the journalist Edurne Uriarte, Vice Chancellor for International Relations and Communication, Pablo Blesa, and the secretary general of the FAES, Jaime Garcia Legaz.

Professor of Political Science and columnist for the newspaper ABC, Edurne Uriarte, has stressed that from his point of view, "there is no ethical foundation to negotiate with terrorists and violent groups" and has also analyzed the social debate that occurs currently on the negotiation and the use of force on these groups.

According to Uriarte "most of the Spanish public opinion is favorable position to bargain because the political elites tend to negotiation, and no use of force.

These elites argue that their position is based on ethical grounds, and that is not primarily so.

Edurne Uriarte political scientist has been reported that, in general, there is a debate between positions of left and right.

"In our country and Western Europe, on the left, the majority position is the non-use of force and defense of the negotiation.

It is seen in case of ETA, the case Alakrana, or the terrorism of Al Qaeda.

However, the right and the neo-conservative groups are betting on no negotiation. "
