The Federation of CCOO Education calls for the resignation of Minister of Culture (09/12/2009)

CCOO considers intolerable statements made today, December 9th, for this political leader, which clearly insults for demonstrating democratic citizenship and give no reason in its bad management of archaeological and subsequent public controversy.

CCOO Counselor Cruz recalls that as a public servant, must respect the will of citizens and, as head of culture in the Region of Murcia, must safeguard our heritage and not continue to destroy the culture that shaped us as a people and which also can cultural tourism revenue.

In this sense, self-contradictory that it is his attitude and his team, especially Mr. Ujaldón, when they stated that no archaeological remains have cultural relevance, turning a deaf ear to dozens of experts in archeology, culture and architecture.

It is particularly serious that Mr. Cruz is a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts and not working to preserve our cultural heritage.

CCOO considers it regrettable that it has reached the point where you had to intervene and the National Police tried to stop the removal.

These facts and the recent statements of President Valcarcel, which rules out the construction of the Parking, discredit the Director Cruz.

To repeated damage to the culture of the Murcia Region is causing Pedro Alberto Cruz since his appointment as Minister of Culture, based on waste, the snobbery and the media propaganda, is the interest the parking mercantilist St. Stephen, over cultural property, and contempt for all citizens.

Given these serious events, the Federation of CCOO Teaching calls for their immediate resignation and to resume the cultural management of our region someone with political sensitivity.
