The Civic Platform has the prosecution "plundering" of St. Stephen (04/12/2009)

Proceedings open information

Spokesmen for the "Civic Platform in Defence of Archaeological Heritage of San Esteban" have appeared in yesterday before the Special Prosecutor of the Autonomous Community of Murcia on the occasion of the dismantling work being carried out on the site Andalusian discovered in the Garden of San Esteban, where proceedings have been initiated research.

The prosecutor is deeply concerned by the issue and is likely to take immediate steps forward with its own report to the court Quey is investigating the case because of prior complaints filed by several citizens.

The documents have been presented with its submissions are:

- Report on conservation of archaeological finds made by archaeologist D. Angel Iniesta San Martin, General Directorate of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

- Color photographs of the archaeological site.

- Diligence of summons and complaint with the Guardia Civil de Murcia.

- Request to initiate Record of Declaration of Cultural Interest of the archaeological site of San Esteban, with the rank of Archaeological Zone.

- Comment to archaeological report from San Esteban, prepared by the Heritage Committee of the College of Architects of Murcia.

- Photocopies of two articles published in the edition dated 16 November 2009 the newspaper La Opinión de Murcia.

- The so-called "Charter of San Esteban" prepared and signed by 180 professionals, architects and people from different cultural areas of the Region of Murcia to different considerations and proposals in order to conserve the archaeological remains, dated November 29, 2009 .

- Several newspaper articles, among others, Felix Santiuste, Architect responsible for monitoring the Palacio de San Esteban, the Dean of archaeologists from the University of Murcia, Professor D.

In the next day the platform will incorporate new documents and technical reports are in preparation.

For its part the Association for the Conservation of Huerta de Murcia (Huermur) has submitted an application to the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural provisional interim measures of protection and conservation of the site as it resolves the request is submitted opening of a Cultural (BIC), among which should be included, says the brief filed, "the suspension of building permits granted by the city of Murcia" As we continue the archaeological work and "the movement ban remains" .
