Tourism offers this weekend a hiking route through the Sierra de Columbares (02/12/2009)

The Department of Tourism, Maria Isabel Valcárcel directing, has organized this weekend a route through the Sierra de Columbares.

This activity is part of Ecotourism Visitor Center of Light.

The route through the Sierra de Columbares be held on Sunday, December 6, and has a medium difficulty.

The duration is 3 hours.

The starting point is La Glorieta (Murcia), at 9.30 am.

A bus will take participants to the starting point of the activity.

To register you must call 606421562 (department Visitor Center Mountain of Light), from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 14 and from 16 to 19 hours.

The price is 5 euros for adults and 3 euros for children under 12 years.

The Columbares saw next to the port of Garruchal and belongs to the mountain of Carrascoy.

Together with the Sierra de Villares is a natural step used since ancient times to reach the limits precoastal, so you have found archaeological remains of Roman villas and materials belonging to the Islamic period.

Its highest peak reaches 646 meters above sea level.

As you get higher on the road to the highest peak, the vegetation changes from Columbares abandoned almond crops on terraced fields, with an understory full of rosemary, mastic, or black hawthorn.

Likewise, it is pine and animals like owls, wild cats or genets.

At the peak of Columbares can see the famous 'lunar landscape', the effect of water erosion on marl soils of the land.

On this tour you should bring a small backpack with nuts, fruit, snack, water, footwear and sportswear, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
