The "First International Master in Advanced Technology Applications in Radiation Oncology", a collaborative effort between the University of Murcia, the IMO Group Foundation (Madrid Institute of Oncology) and the Foundation for Health Research and Training in the Region of Murcia, officially opened today at the headquarters of the Rector of the educational institution.
The Master will train 13 specialists in radiation oncology, from countries in Latin America, Africa and Europe on the latest developments in this field of oncology able, with their revolutionary techniques to destroy some tumors without side effects for the patient.
This postgraduate course will last one year, with theoretical sessions taught by 80 professors from the departments of oncology of the main Spanish hospitals and centers and international organizations, there will be a practical part in the various centers of the IMO.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the President of the IMO Group Foundation, José Samblás, the director of the Foundation for Health Research and Education and coordinator of the master, Juan Pedro Serna, and executive director of the master and medical director of the IMO Group Hugo Marsiglia.
By the University, was attended by Vice Chancellor for Institutional Relations and Health Sciences, Manuel Vidal, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Joaquín María García-Tin.
The speakers at the event stressed that this is the first Masters of its kind to be organized in Europe and the institutional collaboration that has resulted.
