The municipalities adhere to the Project Citizen to promote access to public employment for the disabled (30/11/2009)

Promote accessibility to public employment of persons with disabilities is a priority objective of "Project Citizen" that from today, has the formal backing of regional and local institutions.

The president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, Miguel Angel House, has signed today the general protocol for the transfer of best practices of Project Citizen, "Equal Access Material in Public Employment."

In addition to the Mayor of Murcia, have joined the initiative, the Prime Minister of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the President of the Regional Assembly, Francisco Celdran, the President of the Superior Court of Justice, Juan Martínez Moya, and Rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, also representing the network to incorporate the work generated by the Public Administration.

The protocol was signed this morning at the Palacio de San Esteban, also seeks to promote the development of current legislation for effective implementation of the booking fee in the public sector through various routes.

The agreement also reflects the willingness of all parties to reassess a public administration that is intended to reflect the society it serves, to give equal employment opportunities to the disabled.

The beneficiaries of the protocol involves a large population at risk of social exclusion and work that, despite their different origins and causes, have common problems of intellectual disability, which makes it difficult to demonstrate professional abilities in a regular process of competition.

The vocation of this initiative is, therefore, the eventual elimination of barriers that must save these people to access to public employment.

Page www.proyectociudadano.org offers a complete information, including a manual of good practices of socially responsible procurement in relation to persons with disabilities.

The goal is to provide guidance to all contracting authorities of different government.

The cooperation of municipalities in the region with the associations representing people with disabilities start a few years ago.

FMRM itself signed an agreement with FADEM (Federation of Pro-Mentally Retarded) aimed at enhancing the employability of people with mental retardation.

Training contracts in the city of Murcia

In the case of the City of Murcia are still valid today cooperation agreements with various associations that provide a framework to carry out training contracts for disabled workers.

Thus, agreements with Astrapace, Famdif, Fundown Ceoma and allow their partners have a contract and serve in various administrative areas of the City.

In this way, it reinforces the commitment of local government to play a decisive role in the process of socio-professional integration and to take positive action in terms of equal opportunity and nondiscrimination.
