United Left Greens + (IU + LV) in the city of Murcia has filed a motion in Parliament next Thursday, November 26, which requests that the site of the old flag Cagigal enabled temporarily as free public parking.
Councillor UI + LV in the consistory of the capital, Esther Herguedas has indicated that this facility would have about 100 parking spaces marked while the municipal government does not provide for the construction of new facilities for the area.
He noted that the realization of this proposal falls in line with actions carried out in other solar or municipal land, as in the Malecon or the city of Almeria Avenue, while giving a service to the district and facilitate access to the commercial area .
He recalled that the flag Cagigal was demolished by agreement of the Governing Board of May 22, 2008, as a result of serious cracks appeared in it at the same time it built an underground garage attached by a private company.
In this regard, he assured that the company entered above 600,000 euros in the municipal coffers to compensate for the inconvenience caused by the closure of the facility "in a gesture that once IU defined as implicit recognition of its responsibility in the destruction."
He added that the city of Murcia "never offered clear information on these events," and since then, the site occupied by the facility remains empty, surrounded by a fence of protection.
