The Almudí shows the revival of painting since the 80's through a selection of international and Spanish artists (24/11/2009)

Almudí Palace opens its doors today with a selection of works by 20 artists who led the international revival of painting since the 80's.

The mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, the Councillor for Culture, Fátima Barnuevo, the chief representative of "la Caixa" in Murcia and Alicante, Victor Guardiola, Secretary General of the Fundación "la Caixa", Luis Reverter, and Virginia Torrente curator of the exhibition, presented today Optics pictorial exposure.

Foundation Contemporary Art Collection "la Caixa", a review of the renewal of painting as an expressive medium that began in the eighties from 28 works of contemporary art funds of the entity.

The background of contemporary art Fundación "la Caixa" is made today by more than 750 works and its funds are works of major artists of the last thirty years, from different backgrounds and generations, which together constitute a reflection of our world.

Since the first additions of works of Minimalism, Arte Povera and the sculpture of the eighties, the Library has assembled a magnificent representation of key artists of recent years and has backed artists at the beginning of their careers.

The exhibition, which will last until Jan. 17, features 28 works by some of the most outstanding protagonists of the international resurgence of painting, with works ranging from the early establishment of the Foundation Contemporary Art Collection "la Caixa "at the beginning of the eighties, until the first decade of the century.

The works we study between 1983 and 2004, touring and painting the picture 21 years newer.

Revitalizing the international exhibition of painting from the eighties and brings together the work of Spanish and foreign artists, allowing visitors to see each other as they approach and depart in style and similarities in each other's moments painting.

This exhibition shows a series of works that destroy many formalist bias in regard to art, and contradicts the existing skeptical approach regarding the topics of the postmodern evolution of abstract painting and figurative.

The authors chosen are Francis Alÿs, Javier Baldeón, Patricio Cabrera, Miguel Ángel Campano, Victoria Civera, Gunther Forg, Ferrán García Sevilla, Luis Gordillo, Peter Halley, Pello Irazu, Beatriz Milhazes, Felicidad Moreno, Pablo Palazuelo Perejaume, Sigmar Polke, Fiona Rae, Edward Risch, Juan Ugalde and Juan Uslé.
