The City provides humanitarian aid to the municipalities of El Salvador, affected by Hurricane IDA (24/11/2009)

Murcia City Council continue to support the poorest countries, on this occasion, and after the catastrophe caused by Hurricane "Ida" in several municipalities of San Vicente in El Salvador, will provide humanitarian aid 10,000.

To this end, the City of Murcia will sign some cooperation agreements with Red Cross and Caritas Spain, which have submitted two projects to address each of them more than a thousand families.

The aid will consist of the provision of kits of basic necessities.

The financial contribution that will allocate the city of Murcia will be 10,000 euros to be shared between the two organizations.

The hurricane has caused landslides Chinchontepec from the volcano.

As a result, the provisional balance has been about 150 people dead, 1,835 affected homes, 18 schools destroyed, about 15,000 people in shelters and more than fifty people missing, according to Caritas and Red Cross.

Not for nothing must be said that El Salvador has been affected by the severe natural, several earthquakes, droughts, floods and tropical storms that occurred in the 25 years, as reported by both organizations.

From City of Murcia continues to act in a direct way to disasters of this kind, in particular, and without going any further in 2008 and 2009, has contributed humanitarian aid to Ecuador, Cuba, Haiti, Philippines and Indonesia, these particularly the latter two countries last month.
