More than 250 youth have participated in Murcia volunteer projects in Europe and Latin America (19/11/2009)

This program, funded by the European Commission, allows volunteers to participate in solidarity, to reside in another country, living with different cultures and gain professional experience

More than 250 youth have participated in Murcia volunteer projects in Europe and Latin America, within the European Voluntary Service program, funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Department of Youth and Employment, headed María Dolores Sánchez.

The European Voluntary Service in the city of Murcia is ten years with the aim of encouraging youth interest in participating in Murcia international solidarity activities to enable them to reside in another country, learn a language, along with different cultures and gain personal skills and professionals who will help them improve their skills in seeking employment.

To participate in this initiative young people who want aged between 18 and 30.

Young people working on projects accredited by the European Commission.

The volunteer program lasts between 6 and 12 months.

The European Commission funded accommodation, food, international transport, spending money and medical insurance.

Volunteers must cooperate on projects as assigned.

Currently 15 young people participating in this program Murcia in countries such as Germany, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Turkey.

In addition, the Youth Council develops voluntary service projects in Latin America, financed by the European Commission.

The 'Preventing violence build equality' has allowed 24 young people, including 10 from Murcia, develop their volunteering in Ecuador, Uruguay, Mexico and Brazil.

Youth interested in participating in this experience may register at the Youth Service, located on the street chronicler Valcárcel (Murcia).

Projects can be initiated at any time of year.

41 international volunteers in Murcia

The Youth Council also welcomes young volunteers from other countries to develop their volunteer work in local youth spaces, Informajoven Centre, European Projects and the Youth Exchange program.

There are currently four volunteers from France, Mexico, Hungary and Poland to develop its work in City Hall.

Since this project started 10 years ago, Young has hosted 41 foreign volunteers.
