Child abuse is analyzed at the University of Murcia in a conference on children's rights (18/11/2009)

Murcia University opens today, Wednesday 18, the Fourth Conference on Volunteering and Children's Rights "20 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child", which will end on November 20 in the auditorium of the Colegio Mayor Azarbe .

The event was attended by the Rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, the Child Protection Agency of Madrid Canalda Arturo Gonzalez, the Director General of Family and Children of Murcia, Laura Muñoz Pedroza, the Director General of Immigration, Cooperation and Volunteerism Region, Leopoldo Navarro Quílez and President of Regional Committee of UNICEF, Francisco Artes Calero, among others.

Planned activities highlights the inaugural conference "Rights of the Child" to be delivered by the Child Protection Agency of Madrid.

There will be a panel discussion on volunteerism and cooperation with children and adolescents who take part in Fire in Action, Friends of Mali, Africa Project, OXFAM and Entreculturas Intermón.

On Thursday there will be a talk on child abuse and exposure of the Panel of Experiences by volunteers working with Children Project in Bolivia, Honduras and Rwanda.

The closing ceremony will be held on Friday with a symbolic ceremony of solidarity that will consist of reading the Rights of the Child and a candle lighting the audience.

The conference is organized by the Regional Committee of the Region of Murcia, UNICEF and World University Service Volunteer of the University of Murcia (PSUV).
