The Monitoring Committee on Gender Violence and the City Council congratulates the prevention program developed in schools (12/11/2009)

The City Commission of Monitoring the Domestic Violence was held this morning and has another meeting attended by all members that integration included the recent inclusion of the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia on that committee.

The meeting date has served mainly to present the wide range of activities that the Department of Social Welfare and Equal Opportunities Policy, which directs Maria del Carmen Pelegrin, organized to commemorate the International Day to End Violence Against Women , to be held on November 25.

The different groups presented their proposals for this commemorative week, plus it has highlighted the important role being carried out from the Department of Education with the implementation of values education program and activity "Equal parts: Two things, "an activity which aims to coordinate measures to promote equal opportunities in the formal education system.

Important work is also actively contributing to the goal of eradicating violence against women, with preventative measures aimed at secondary students.

It has also been informed of the implementation of the Protection Team and Family Care (EPAF), which consists of a five out of the local police officers, all women who are dressed in civilian clothes and traveling in cars camouflaged in order to achieve greater discretion in their actions.

Participation in the International Forum on Youth and Gender Violence, 23 and 24 November in Madrid, has been another aspect to be discussed at the commission.

The purpose of this committee, founded in 2006 and with a scope limited only to the municipality, is to analyze the situation of violence against women in the municipality of Murcia and to propose and coordinate those at the municipal level measures aimed at prevention, care and fight for the eradication of violence against women.

Permanent part of the departments of Education, Youth, Employment and Public Safety, in addition to the presence of different social groups related to the field of women and other spheres of social action, as representatives of Associations of Parents or Youth Associations, which have a direct impact on this phenomenon.
