The president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, and President of the Board of Landowners of Huerta de Murcia, Sigifredo Hernandez, have visited the works of adequacy of the shots of the canals over the Huerta de Murcia (Aljufía and barriers) within the Modernization of Irrigation of the Vega Media, which includes the automation of the gates of the two doses.
The works, which holds the Union Temporal de Empresas (UTE) Construction and Aquagest German Ruiz Murcia by 1,068,569.08 euros, aimed at recovering the original hydraulic capacity of both channels, which is constrained by new entry and accumulation solids from the river Segura.
The implementation period was set at 11 months and completion is scheduled for next summer.
The performance on these two canals, whose footage was found on the Contraparada (Javalí Nuevo, Murcia) and supplying the rest of canals of the Huerta de Murcia, facilitate more efficient use of water due to the introduction of cleaning systems that reduce the accumulation of these solids in the footage.
On the other hand, while maintaining the flow derived from the river Segura, is an improvement in the efficiency of its use, allowing a certain increase of the ecological flow of river.
When completed, this project will produce other benefits to the huerta, as the Board of Landowners of the Huerta de Murcia avoid or at least significantly reduce power cuts to existing irrigation at present, the problems of running the tap.
The CHS undertakes these works, whose key activities are the placement of automated gates and railings self-cleaning system, because for years the operation of the shots of the two main canals of the Huerta de Murcia had major deficiencies which the strategic location, detrimental to all irrigators.
In particular, in making the Aljufía Acequia is running a cofferdam with riprap (elements that are used to channel water flows); placing a battery of prefabricated frames; ginning Cleaners system in the former decision, replacing the two gates, and conditioning the access road.
Furthermore, in the first section of this canal, which runs the open, the CHS is replacing the control booth near the gate drain, which is being replaced, running a sewer manhole, and installing a new system of self-cleaning grates and two motorized gates.
Also, the basin organization running the civil works needed to provide a new take on the Aljufía ditch, where he plans to install a flow meter.
At the same time, the CHS urbanized areas adjacent to the river, creating a recreational area and running a new stretch of road is 35 meters long, which gives continuity to the service road Butte River.
In making the Acequia de Barreras, the Confederation also runs a cofferdam with jetty, replacing the existing Cleaners bars self-cleaning system and change the two gates by a motor drive.
Investment of 45 million euros
This is another of the actions being carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marinopara modernize and improve the canals and infrastructure of the Board of Landowners, whose budget exceeds 45 million euros, most of them already made .
In particular, the CHS has intervened on Acequia Aljufía; Turbedal and Sarabia (Sections I and II), Mother of the Alquibla (Section I); Churra La Vieja, Caracol, Zaraiche, Pitarque, Raal New Barriers and Turbedal.
