The Youth Hostel 'The Valley' comes into operation on 48 seats of accommodation (10/11/2009)

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, accompanied by the Director of the Institute of Youth in the Region of Murcia, Veronica Lopez, today inaugurated the Youth Hostel 'The Valley', which comes into operation with 48 seats accommodation and new infrastructure for environmental and educational activities.

The renovation work was completed in June 2009 and have had a cost of 1,538,336 euros, which have been funded by the Ministry of Economy and Finance through the Directorate General of Heritage.

Furthermore, the implementation of this building have been involved the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which contributed € 350,000 for furniture and equipment, and the Agriculture and Water.

The latter, through the General Directorate of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity, is responsible for carrying out various activities within the Network Programme Classrooms of the Nature of the Region.

It is, according to Cruz, a building that is excellent, modern and sustainable and that also involves improvements in accessibility for the disabled, water recycling and, ultimately, a better integration into the surrounding environment so excellent in which is situated. "

The building, two floors and a basement, has 48 accommodation places, distributed in 26 rooms, of which 22 are double rooms (two wheelchair accessible) and four singles.

The juvenile facility, situated on a plot of over four hectares Carrascoy Regional Park, The Valley, an area of 1,812,460 meters square.

The bedrooms are on the first floor available except for disabled found on the ground floor.

The double rooms are equipped with a sink, wardrobe and a bunk and every two bedrooms share bathroom and shower.

In addition, the first floor are two rooms with TV and the Internet, one of them with terrace.

On the ground floor is the reception, luggage room and two administration offices, a multipurpose room with capacity for 80 people, dining room for 48 people, kitchen, pantry and bedrooms suitable.

In the basement area are located two workshop rooms for up to 20 people each.

The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool 200 square meters built on a sandy beach with changing rooms perimeter and first aid.

The new facilities include green infrastructure for recycling gray water for the purpose of reuse in toilets and irrigation, as well as photovoltaic panels that provide 20 percent of energy consumed.

It also has solar panels for hot water, air conditioning and improved thermal and acoustic insulation.

To manage the hostel, has tendered a public contract for the operation of the facility, determining the services provided by it, as accommodation, hospitality, food, cleaning, first aid and administration.

The Youth Hostel 'The Valley' is the second installment of the Region of Murcia to join the circuit of the Spanish Network of Youth Hostels (RESET) of which is already part of the hostel Calarreona in Eagles, and that is a distinction in terms of quality and offers the opportunity to participate in fairs and promotions nationally and internationally.
