The MADMAN join the circuit Murcia art cities of the world (05/11/2009)

Collect, preserve and expose the arts that reflect the profound relationship between humanity and nature, culture and environment

Located in the Levante Park, will feature a sculpture garden, Puntos and Resident Artists Program

The museum building this infrastructure is a fundamental pillar of Murcia Plan 2010-2015

Murcia wants to be a reference for culture, innovation and creativity and that has much to do with the momentum of the cultural complex Madman on the river environment.

The Museum of Art, Design and Environment of Murcia will have a clear and perceptible impact on the city, region, country and the world, and its effects will be felt both in economically and culturally.

Its mission is to collect, preserve and exhibit the arts which reflect the profound relationship between humanity and nature-or culture and the environment.

The goal is to offer a unique approach to how this connection has evolved over time and how busy the artists for centuries.

The creation of this complex, located in the Levante Park, next to the Auditorium and Congress Center, is sponsored by the Government, through Murcia Future Foundation, this afternoon held a working meeting, which has been approved the master plan.

The new infrastructure of museums, which have an area 11,700 meters square, it will become:

- A center for the creation, research and study of environmental art.

"A destination for regional and international tourism-addiction itineraries that include the Museo del Prado, Reina Sofia and the IVAM-

- An expression of the culture of Murcia

- A boost to economic development in the Region

- A boost for local artists and arts organizations

- A remarkable meeting of cultures

The MADMAN is the ideal place to explore the relationship between land and culture and provide ample space for indoor and outdoor galleries, and also organizing exhibitions of existing collections, will also provide a workplace for artists and curators from around the world to create new works.

Along with the formal exhibition galleries and educational programs, the complex will provide an informal location for local arts groups through exhibitions, workshops and joint educational programs.

Besides being physically and spatially open to their surroundings and the programs of the new museum will be open to society Murcia, educational institutions and the artistic community and maintain a close relationship with the University.

A Sculpture Garden, a part of the parcel will remain a working orchard, "Meeting Points" that will include an outdoor amphitheater, art pavilion, a large lawn area and festivals, and Resident Artists Program - creators will be invited to live and work for 6 months to create works of art to be displayed in an exhibition at the museum will also form a fundamental part of MADMAN.

Zero carbon footprint

The design will embody the idea of Hortus (garden) + Culture.

To this end, the structure will open to nature, with little division between inside and outside.

Without becoming an icon, the building will be a work of art itself, which is also characterized by being in the forefront of sustainable buildings, both for the materials used as energy consumption.

Be built, therefore, a sustainable building with zero carbon footprint.

The creation of this museum complex is one of the key aspects of Murcia 2010-2015 presented by the Mayor for a little over a month, which aims to deepen the vision of Murcia, as a benchmark for quality, creativity and innovation the field of commercial services, cultural, sports and tourism.
