The City Commission of Monitoring the Domestic Violence will from now with a new member in its meetings, as the Governing Board of the City of Murcia has given its approval to the inclusion of the Institute of Women of the Region Murcia on the committee.

The purpose of this committee, founded in 2006 and with a scope limited only to the municipality, is to analyze the situation of violence against women in the municipality of Murcia and to propose and coordinate those at the municipal level measures aimed at prevention, care and fight for the eradication of violence against women.

Permanent part of the departments of Education, Youth, Employment and Public Safety, in addition to the presence of different social groups related to the field of women and other spheres of social action, as representatives of Associations of Parents or Youth Associations, which have a direct impact on this phenomenon.

The objectives of the Monitoring Committee, which so far has met eight times, are:

Combating Gender-based violence especially in the municipality of Murcia to eradicate all forms and manifestations.

Reaching out to the population of Murcia on the causes and consequences of violence against women as well as resources and services for prevention and care to victims.

Propose measures and institutional and citizen action to prevent violence and care for the needs of women and daughters / os who suffer.

Promote and coordinate local activities aimed at care for the victims of this violence.

Propose and assist in the development and implementation of management protocols, in coordination with other institutions / agencies in the field, especially with the courts for violence against Women, the forces and state security bodies, the Institute for Women and emergency health services.

Promote and develop cooperation between the various women's associations at the municipal level and advise them in their efforts to support women who need it, facilitating networking and mutual support groups.

Develop and disseminate research, data and activities on violence against women.
