A day discussed in vocational training for people with intellectual disability or cerebral palsy (04/11/2009)

Experts of associations and the administration meet Wednesday in the University Community Centre, Campus Espinardo, to analyze the existing training and the adequacy of training to enable the employment of people with intellectual disabilities or cerebral palsy.

The conference is organized by PEEM, Association for the Integration of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, in collaboration with FEAPS Murcia and University of Murcia for projection through the Social Service and Volunteerism.

The Regional Employment Service and Training (SEF) is funding the meeting, and its director general, Ginés Martínez, participates in the inauguration along with Guillermo Diaz, rector of University Extension of the University, and Joseph Thomas, president of PEEM.

The "Day to raise awareness of vocational training for the Employment of people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy grant will study the existing lines and the role of guiding the transition from training to work in a group whose unemployment rate is double that of rest of society

Currently, nine associations of Murcia FEAPS manage occupational centers where they learn social skills and work more than 700 people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy, having also managed the employment of some 300 workers from this group in different companies or well in the six Employment Centres created by the associations themselves.
