The Community promotes the construction of coastal North and South of Murcia with an investment of 100 million euros (14/10/2009)

It is the largest investment in roads in the municipality of Murcia, financed entirely by the regional administration of the Plan funds Revitalize Economy

The Autonomous Community of Murcia and the City Council today signed a cooperation agreement for promoting the construction of coastal North and South of the city of Murcia, and the culmination of Alternative Sangonera, representing a total investment of 100 million euros.

The president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, signed the agreement at a ceremony held at the Palacio de San Esteban de Murcia .

This agreement, said the chief executive of Murcia, allows the full implementation of the priorities of road communication, "strategic for the final structuring of Murcia and its parishes, and is the largest investment in roads in the municipality of Murcia with funds from the Plan of Revitalization of the Economy of the Region.

These actions, plus the connection speed in 16 districts of Murcia (Sangonera La Verde, El Palmar, La Alberca, Santo Angelo, Algezares, Los Garres, San José de la Vega, Beniaján, Torreagüera, La Ñora, Cabeza de Torres, Espinardo , Churra, the strut, Javalí Viejo and Guadalupe), improve access to major streets that connect to the downtown area, and may absorb the traffic of about 60,000 vehicles a day that went through the center of these towns.

The coastal North and South are already running in the early stages and allow the creation of 2,000 jobs.

Three lanes in each direction and a bike lane

North Coast, 12 miles, aims to connect the northern part of town from east to west.

Thus, the old roads Cabezo de Torres, Churra, Espinardo, Guadeloupe, New Javalí Ñora and will become the main streets of the same.

The first tranche of these works will open avenues linking the Juan Carlos I Juan de Borbón, the height of the plant Estrella de Levante.

This entire section will have a length of 12 kilometers with three lanes in each direction.

Moreover, throughout its route, the North Coast will be equipped with a bike lane.

South Coast, 10 miles, connecting the hamlet of El Palmar with that of Torreagüera, passing the towns of La Alberca, Santo Angelo, Algezares, Los Garres, San José de la Vega and Beniaján.

The route will also have three lanes in each direction and a bike lane.

The first phase of Alternative Sangonera La Verde, as an alternative to urban trip there, has already congestion in the town center traffic, to prevent the passage of more than 20,000 vehicles on average per day in the Calle Mayor .

The coastal North and South are municipally owned and Sangonera variant is part of the National Road Network of the Autonomous Community.
