200 people join in Murcia to the global call against climate change (22/09/2009)

For ten minutes the lights of the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace and only mobile phones were turned on the participants as a symbol of calls throughout the week are being made worldwide to the respective political leaders.

The event brought together under the same slogan political representatives of all political stripes, ecological associations, sports clubs and general public united by a common goal: to draw the attention of politicians on the climate crisis.

On 7 December Copenhagen summit begins on climate.

It will decide on the arrangements that will determine the future of the planet as climate change concerns.

This is probably the last chance for humanity to tackle the problem of climate change and prevent catastrophic warming levels that would jeopardize the survival of the planet.

This situation is leading to people and organizations of all sizes to mobilize to get a fair deal in Copenhagen, ambitious and binding that allows to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next 40 years and articulates mechanisms of adaptation to a changing climate.

The event held in Murcia is one of the 2300 taking place in 130 countries and is part of the campaign Tck Tck Tck: partnership, which takes its name from the sound of the clock, "tic tac tic tac" ("tck" in English), which brings together organizations and individuals around the world in pursuit of a climate treaty that is ambitious, fair and binding.

Next to Avaaz, including organizations like 350.org, Greenpeace, Oxfam, WWF, and many others.

The slogan STOP CO2 is also a project that was born in Murcia today and challenge citizens to prevent the emission of 100,000 kg of CO2 from today until the start of the Copenhagen summit.

Those interested in helping with this project can obtain more information on the blog http://stopCO2project.blogspot.com/, where you can request a presentation for groups of at least ten people.

During this week we will continue calling the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and the Ministers of Environment, Foreign Affairs and Industry to require them to go personally to the Copenhagen summit and sign a climate agreement that is fair, binding and ambitious .
