The Mayor will participate next week in the First European Conference on Climate Change (18/09/2009)

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, will participate on Thursday in Huelva at the First European Conference for the promotion of local actions against climate change, an important event where the mayor will present the progress made by Murcia in this area.

The European Commission, as an endorsement to the policies and actions towards sustainable energy, promotes an initiative called the Covenant of Mayors, whose main objective is the promotion of Local Action Plans for Sustainable Energy in towns and cities in Europe.

The Diputación Provincial de Huelva plenary adopted an agreement for the promotion of the Compact initiative, promoting the accession to the municipalities of the province of Huelva.

The First European Conference for the promotion of local actions against climate change, to be held in Punta Umbria on days 23, 24 and 25 September, comes as the first meeting under the initiative of the ICCPR, to forward and put on the table to develop ways of working.
