Almost thirty Murcia will encourage activities to move in a more sustainable (11/09/2009)

A week to raise awareness of the impact our sustainable mobility trends have on the quality of life, savings, energy efficiency and environment.

The collaboration between the departments of Environment and Quality Urban, Youth, Sports, Festivals and Popular Culture, Security and Traffic, Transport, Social Welfare, Education, Planning and Tourism, all coordinated by the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change Murcia, has created a comprehensive program to celebrate the Second European Mobility Week under the theme "Climate Change in your City."

A total of 26 activities have been organized to be held from 16 to 22 September and are aimed at everyone.

On Wednesday, coinciding with the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, it will kick out all acts with the reading of a manifesto.

That same day, at 10 and 12 hours, guided tours will be made to the Board of Traffic and Local Police Headquarters of the Infante Juan Manuel.

This activity will be repeated on Thursday and Friday at the same time.

At 19 pm in University Square, will develop an urban gymkhana where ten teams of three people representing different groups will perform several tests related to sustainable mobility.

You can install the Solidarity Bus where you can take clothes, food, books, toys and other items to be delivered to the Asilo Store.

On Thursday 17, at 10 am, interested parties may go to the Plaza of the University to make you completely free a measurement of CO2 emitted by your vehicle.

Also at 19 pm there will be a sustainable tourist route which will be revealed all the secrets hidden in the gardens of the city.

This activity, leaving from the Plaza Belluga be repeated on day 20.

Simultaneously, and for every day of the Mobility Week, which use the urban transport will receive a ballot to enter a drawing to be held on 30 September, where they can win various gifts.

Last year, Murcia managed to be the first Spanish city and the fourth in Europe in the prestigious European Mobility Week 2008, as was published in the European Mobility Week Press Release of February, after Budapest, Zagreb and Almada.

The city was a finalist in this award from the European Mobility Week, which recognizes the work of the city that has achieved major achievements related to this matter, mainly in the implementation of permanent measures to achieve more sustainable urban transport.

The theme was for the occasion was "Clean Air for All" and took 2,102 cities.

Reached an estimated 218 million citizens.

Remember that Murcia was the first Spanish city to organize without my Car Day in 1999.

Since last year this day was extended to the Mobility Week.
