The new website of the Council of Good Men spread the application of this institution to Cultural Heritage of Humanity (09/09/2009)

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, this morning, along with the Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, the new website www.consejodehombresbuenos.es , framed by the work of the Men's Council Candidacy Buenos de la Huerta de Murcia and the Tribunal de las Aguas de Valencia, for their inscription on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

This site, said Cruz, "was launched in 2007 but soon became obsolete remaining to give the game a few services they wanted to through it."

Thus, this new page, which can also be accessed through the address www.tribunaldelasaguas.es allows the user, as well as first hand information of the two courts, "to participate by sending comments, photographs, experiences and how to express their support for the joint bid. "

This page is available in Castilian, Valencian, English and French, the latter working languages of UNESCO's committee to evaluate the bid.

The website is divided into sections and subsections with brief information on the courts of irrigation, the gardens of Murcia and Valencia, along with interactive maps, as well as the activities and events, image galleries, visual documentation and bibliography.

The new site also has a children's section, through educational activities proposed by the story published on the occasion of the nomination 'Johnny and the Good Men', children can become familiar with the intangible heritage, the Council of Men good and vocabulary of the garden.

From 28 September to 2 October in Abu Dhabi (UAE), the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will take the decision to place on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Humanity those applications deemed appropriate.

In addition to the joint candidate of the Council of Good Men of the Huerta de Murcia and the Tribunal de las Aguas de Valencia, Spain will also participate to the bid by the Government of Silbo Gomero Canario.

Good Men is a customary court composed of farmers in the vegetable gardens and orchards that oversee the resolution of disputes arising in respect of irrigation, which dates back to the ninth century.

Its members have a duty to promote just solutions and collective interest in water issues.

The wording in the nineteenth century of the Ordinances of the Huerta de Murcia granted legal status to the Council.
