IU + Councillor for the Greens in Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today criticized the attitude of government to address the shortcomings of the housing block at number 3 of the Orchard Street Gambín (Side Bus Station in San Andreas) , home to some 20 low-income families.
According Herguedas, those houses are in disrepair, "wet, huge cracks, an electrical system that does not meet the minimum safety requirements and landslides in parts of the facade have been forced to cordon off the area."
He also said the bloc, consisting of social housing built during the Franco dictatorship by the Provincial and City of Murcia, "has suffered the neglect of the administration for many years, since it has not been any intervention on your part ".
He recalled that at the initiative of IU + Greens was convened in January 2008 in which it was determined that the agency responsible for housing is the tax office and established the procedure to obtain the final adjudication and the granting of deeds.
After the meeting, which also was appointed a liquidation committee with local representation, the Delegation of the Government and the autonomous region, "the situation remains the same or worse, and nothing seems to have made progress in solving the problem," the mayor.
To Herguedas, the municipality of Murcia is responsible "from the moral point of view" of the current state of housing, and contributed to its construction and in this sense, "should worry about defending the status of their neighbors."
In addition, said Councilman Hall Housing, Antonio Castillo, "should take initiatives to demonstrate their concern for the needs of citizens", while maintaining that "when you make good efforts, as in La Paz, but the rod measure is not the same as the interests at stake. "
