The City Council significantly increased aid for rental housing (25/08/2009)

The City substantially increased aid to low-income people have access to decent housing for rent.

Because of the economic crisis, the Department of Housing, run by Antonio Castillo, has increased the budget for subsidies for rental housing reaching the total amount of 294,000 euros, 90,000 euros more than last year, which amounted to 204,690 euros.

In 2007, 159,293 euros were invested in 2006 was 155,054 euros.

This amount covers the grants committed in 2008 and new to be granted this year.

This is another measure taken by the government team of Miguel Ángel Cámara Murcia helping to solve the economic problems that are suffering, the result of the economic crisis facing the country.

Until 31 July, 76.41% have received more requests for aid for rental housing in the same period last year.

Thus, from January to July 31 this year we received 85 grant applications, while in the same period in 2008 56 and in 2007 received 50 applications.

In total, the City awarded 89 grants last year, from 70 in 2007 and 67, 2006.

Particular attention will have to receive preferential aid groups like single parent families, large families, victims of domestic violence, the disabled and over 65 years.

The deadline to apply for grants is open until September 30, 2009.

Antonio Castillo explained that the increase in the amount of subsidies for rental housing is due to increasing demand and lack of free municipal housing.

These grants offer a fast access to decent housing to families who are on waiting lists for access to municipal housing also can choose where to live and the type of housing.

Councilman suggests that more than one hundred families will benefit from these grants.

Requirements

These grants are aimed at those who are enrolled in the registry of municipal housing applicants, with an annual income of the family unit between 0.5 and 2.5 of IPREM (annual income of between 3,690 euros and 18,453 euros ), that are registered in the municipality of Murcia during the three years preceding the application for assistance (except for victims of domestic violence who need a change of municipality), and that they have signed a lease on a date prior to the grant application.

Moreover, among the requirements is that the housing accommodation must be regular and permanent residence and not more than 90 square meters of useful (except when dealing with cases of large families).

The annual income rental housing should exceed 25% of annual income the family unit.

The rent subsidies ranging between 900 and 3,000 per year, depending on the annual income of the family unit and the income of the occupants.

In addition, most vulnerable groups can access additional aid of 600 euros, without exceeding the maximum $ 3,000 annual sum eligible for rent subsidy and preferential afforded by collective being.
