A police presence will make the weekly markets safer for merchants and customers (19/08/2009)

The collaboration between the Department of Safety and Traffic and Decentralization and Markets has enabled the month of September to launch a device that will allow the weekly markets are safer and more controlled, being beneficiaries of this campaign both merchants and customers.

During the first half of next month, this device will focus on jobs, markets and shopping areas will be installed at the various chambers festive, as the FICA or the Malecon.

Once you finish the September Fair will begin in the weekly markets.

Every month a full-fledged schedule which will go through many local police officers as necessary, a number that will vary according to the busiest market, the hours when more customers are concentrated and the specific needs of each of these areas commercial.

Thus, agents, dressed both in uniform and plainclothes, will cover the 53 markets in Murcia and hamlets along the squares and market watchers.

Early in the markets come to control the enforcement of the ordinance of squares and markets and punish those who are not licensed and, therefore, unfair competition are doing because they do not pay taxes or municipal taxes like the rest approved dealers.

Another objective is to check compliance with the Law on Intellectual Property and punishing those who sell counterfeit or pirated CDs.

This special device also ensure that no address means of egress for emergencies.

The campaign will also combat theft and other crimes that take place in the weekly markets.

After the Spring Festival was launched a safety device in the weekly market of Fame, thanks to which local police officers have been located, identified and taken to police station four women reported for theft.

In addition, in late June, the two councils held a joint device in the market of El Palmar in which took place minutes of lifting and removal of material in three places have no license to sell other products to those without authorization and another post that was not assigned.

Currently exist in the municipality of Murcia a total of 53 markets that take place in neighborhoods and districts of Murcia, with a total of 2,871 posts.

The busiest are those of the Barrio de La Fama, Santa María de Gracia, El Palmar, Sangonera la Verde, Espinardo, head of Torres and Beniaján
